Accommodation
All Amgen Scholars will be housed in a Cambridge college, free of charge.
Financial award
Amgen Scholars at the University of Cambridge will receive a stipend in line with the national minimum wage requirements.
Laboratory expenses
Your research lab will be allocated £500 to contribute to laboratory expenses.
Travel
Scholars not normally resident in Cambridge will be able to claim up to £300 towards the cost of travel from their home to Cambridge. Receipts and reimbursement claim forms will need to be provided.
Visa
We will reimburse the cost of a visa for scholars who need one to join the programme [Temporary Worker - Government Authorised Exchange visa (T5)]. Please note the reimbursement will cover the cost of the standard application, not priority service.
Visa requirements for all non-UK nationals (except Irish nationals)
Unless you already hold an eligible UK visa (which will need to be appraised prior to acceptance on the programme), you will be required to apply for the Temporary Worker - Government Authorised Exchange visa to facilitate this engagement. Due to the short duration of the programme, you will not be required to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge as part of the visa application, and therefore you will not automatically be able to access NHS services. Please see the links below.
