How to apply

The different stages in the Amgen Cambridge Scholars application process

1. Check that you are eligible to apply

2. Select a supervisor

Please refer to Selecting a supervisor for the most update list of faculty you could work with.

When e-mailing a supervisor, remember to include a little bit of information about yourself and ask if you could work with them over the summer - a few lines to say where you are studying, what your academic interests are, and why you would like to work with them is much more likely to be effective than a lot of text. It is important to mention that you want to apply through the Amgen Scholars Programme.

Not everyone in our research database will have space for a project student in 2018. The earlier you enquire, the more likely you are to find a supervisor that you want to work with. Those who definitely do not have space will have a note against "Students" in the research database saying they are unable to accept students - please do not contact these supervisors.

You will need to enter the name and email address of your supervisor on the application form. They will then be sent an email asking for them to write a letter in support of your application to the Amgen programme.

3. Academic reference

Identify a Faculty member from your current university who can provide an academic reference for you. You will need to provide the name and email address of your academic reference on the application form. They will then be sent an email asking for them to complete the reference once your application has been submitted.

4. Personal statement

Write a personal statement to accompany your application. This should include details of the project you have agreed with your selected supervisor. Personal statement document.

5. Official transcripts

You need to upload a copy of your degree transcripts as part of your application. These need to be in English, translations are accepted as long as they are certified by your university.
